1993-1995  PhD thesis entitled “Synthesis and Reactions of Ruthenium Sulfine Complexes” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. W. A. Schenk at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Würzburg
Further academic career:
1996-1997  Postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Stuart Warren at the Chemistry Laboratories at the University of Cambridge, UK (funded by DFG postdoctoral grant).
1997-1998  Postdoctoral Research Assistant with Dr. Jeremy Robertson at the Dyson Perrins Laboratory at the University of Oxford, UK.
1998-2006  Lecturer and since 2005 Senior Lecturer in Organic Chemistry, The University of Surrey, UK.
2006-2012  Associate Professor of Chemistry (Analytical and Organic
Chemistry) Jacobs University Bremen.
Since 2012  Full professor of Analytical Chemistry, Jacobs University Bremen

Research Interests: Mass spectrometry, analysis of dietary and medicinal secondary plant metabolites, analysis of processed food (black tea, coffee, cocoa and red wine)
